“WHO SLEEPS BADLY, THINKS BADLY, WORKS POORLY, DECIDES POORLY, LIVES POORLY”

Teresa Paiva gave an interview to the March 2019 issue of Visão Saúde magazine, on the newsstands since the beginning of the month. The interview is entitled “who sleeps badly, thinks badly, works poorly, decides poorly, lives poorly”

The neurologist and specialist in sleep medicine, director of the Center for Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, mentioned, for example, the importance of sleep in the capacity and well-being of people:

“It has been scientifically proven that sleep is a good counselor in the cognitive and emotional aspect.”

“If we learn anything and sleep the next, there is a rate of learning improvement. And during sleep there is a reorganization of day-to-day information that leads to cognitive improvement, as much of unnecessary memories are thrown away. The essentials are kept and organized, “he added.

And about the consequences of poor sleep Teresa Paiva said:

“Little sleep is a social risk because it increases violence, bad decisions, the number of diseases and accidents, increases early mortality.”
